Woman’s Unfortunate Mix-up: Super Glue Mistaken for Eye Drops

In a bizarre incident, a woman from New York, Lydia Hartman, mistakenly used super glue instead of her eye drops, leading to excruciating pain and a hospital visit.

Despite the distinct smell and obvious differences in consistency between the two substances, Hartman managed to confuse the super glue with her eye medication.

As one can imagine, applying super glue to her eyes had dire consequences. The adhesive adhered to her eyeballs and under her eyelids, causing considerable discomfort.

Hartman shared her hospital experience and recovery journey on TikTok. The snaps from the video showcased her in a hospital gown, being attended to by medical professionals who had to pry her eyelids open.

The hospital staff applied an ointment to dissolve the glue, but it proved ineffective. Consequently, they resorted to manually separating her eyelids using a metal tool. Finally, after a painstaking process, her eyes were successfully opened.

Hartman admitted that the experience was incredibly painful. Many social media users expressed bewilderment at her mix-up, questioning how such a mistake could occur. Others offered advice to avoid similar incidents in the future, urging her to keep super glue separate from medications.

While the incident may seem extraordinary, a former ophthalmic technician revealed that such mix-ups are more common than one might think. Despite this reassurance, it is clear that Hartman’s unfortunate error taught her a valuable lesson she will undoubtedly never forget.
