Toyota has revealed the highly anticipated Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition, a track-focused version based on the fifth generation of the popular hybrid model. The debut of this special edition coincided with the 100th anniversary of the prestigious endurance race held at the renowned Circuit of Le Mans.
Designed with an extensive aerodynamic kit, the Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition sports a striking appearance that exudes a ready-for-the-track vibe. The front end showcases a redesigned bumper with Motorsport-derived multi-headlamps, accompanied by a larger honeycomb intake. Additionally, a pronounced splitter, two sets of canards, and a lighter carbon fiber hood enhance the vehicle’s performance-oriented aesthetics.
The profile of the Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition is defined by black fender flares, side seal extensions, and racing hybrid decals. At the rear, it features a fixed rear wing, a wide diffuser, and rear fender extensions inspired by endurance racers. While Toyota Gazoo Racing has not disclosed any specific modifications, they claim that the concept delivers outstanding driving performance, attributed in part to its exclusive wheels and performance aerodynamic parts influenced by the GR-010 hybrid competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
This athletic hybrid is equipped with bespoke Aero-optimized race wheels measuring 18 inches, wrapped in 235/50 R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Notably, the lower front air intake has been revised to incorporate a honeycomb structure. The GR PR Prius boasts a wide track suspension, further enhancing its handling capabilities.
Although it remains uncertain whether a street-legal GR PR Prius will be available, Toyota’s recently appointed CEO and president, Koji Sato, has assured enthusiasts that more GR cars are on the horizon. However, disappointingly, there is still no news regarding the production version of the GR Super Sport, a highly anticipated road-going hypercar expected to generate over 1,000 horsepower.
