The world premiere of the PureSpeed took place in Monaco, on a floating pontoon in the harbour, where it caught the eye of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. The setting, much like the car, was nothing short of spectacular, underlining the vehicle’s connection to the glamorous and high-octane world of Formula 1.
Design: A Nod to Legends
The PureSpeed’s design draws heavily from Mercedes-AMG’s illustrious history, particularly the legendary AMG ONE hypercar. The concept boasts an extremely low silhouette, with technical, sharply cut visible carbon fibre parts contrasting against the sensual, rounded shapes of the vehicle’s upper body. The carbon fibre cladding on the front and rear wheels, the closed rear wheel covers for improved aerodynamics, and the open front wheel covers for optimal airflow and brake cooling, all highlight its racing DNA.
Typical of a high-performance sports car, the PureSpeed features a long bonnet and a very low front end with a pronounced “shark nose.” The front design echoes the AMG ONE, with a wide lower air intake, AMG lettering, and a dark, chrome-plated Mercedes star. Aerodynamic enhancements include a sporty bonnet with an air outlet and small, transparent deflectors that guide the wind over the cockpit, ensuring a seamless and exhilarating drive.
